Although most of the iris are gone now (I have reblooming ones by my office cabin that will show again this fall), the homestead is still a riot of color. The clematis my partner has on his porch (for his office cabin) is in riotous bloom–far more prolific than we’ve ever seen it. I’d been worried our late freezes might have harmed it, but it seems a bit of cold just helps it along.
I have marigolds in the barrel by my office porch (ignore the baling twine I held up an iris stem with, LOL) and they are HUGE and in full bloom.
We also have the spiderwort, assorted wild flowers, and I suspect by mid month we’ll have ripe wild blackberries. Prickly to harvest, but oh so tart and delicious.
