In this episode, I give a bit of background on agriculture’s dual subordination and get a bit academic/geeky about it. This is in preparation to talk about agriculture within the context of global history in future episodes, and I felt that this background was necessary.
So what is dual subordination? In short, it’s the fact that farmers have to deal with Mother Nature as well as some overarching authority. Yeah, this comes from my college textbook. It’s still true. *smiles* So we talk about how that manifests itself both in today’s culture as well as historically and why that’s important when we begin to think beyond world building.
I hope you enjoy!
